The Nová dráma/New Drama Festival will take place in the fall of 2021!

Due to the current epidemiological situation we decided to move the date of the festival from May 2021 to October 11-16, 2021. The festival will take place in Bratislava and, if the situation allows, the main program will present the most interesting productions of contemporary drama in Slovakia from the last two selection periods.

"Since last year of festival took place in an alternative form (Nová drama/New Drama - alternative, October 27 - 28, 2020) without a screening of the competition productions, we decided to combine this part of the festival so that the audience will be able to see the nominated productions from two selected period. The selection of the main program will include productions, the premiere of which took place between 1 February 2020 and 30 June 2021,” says Vladislava Fekete, director of the Theatre Institute in Bratislava.



The situation, which is currently subject of prevention against the spread of coronavirus, has raised several questions that directly affect the direction of the festival. "We try to think ahead and we want to prepare the program so that it is as variable as possible and we could possibly move it operatively to the online space," adds Vladislava Fekete.



The program section Focus, which is focused on the presentation of theatre and drama of a selected foreign country, will not take place in 2021.
